Golf Swing Plane – How I Improved it

May 26th, 2010

Hey, Roger here,
If you’re looking for the best way to improve your golf scores, then I’m glad you’ve found this website, and I strongly suggest you keep reading. Because this is my uncensored golf story. The ups, the downs, what stuff didn’t work, and finally the one thing that did help me achieve my goal of improving my golf swing.
I was one of those golfers with a very inconsistent golf swing plane. I would swing too flat on wedge shots and short irons. Even worse, I would swing too upright on long irons and on my drives. The result was inconsistent golf shots, coming over the top, pop ups, and of course, I would slice!

I tried everything to improve my golf game. When I played with friends, I would ask for swing tips, and I spent a lot of effort trying their tips and trying to copy their (few) good shots. This usually left me more confused than anything. My buddies spent more time laughing at my terrible shots than they spent actually helping me.

I tried every book in the world on golf tips for beginners, how to swing a golf club, and golf swing technique. Then I tried a bunch of golf swing aids, gadgets, weighted clubs, and training aids. Nothing really helped, even if I practiced four or five days a week. Who has that kind of time? So I overpaid for expensive golf lessons from several golf pros, and I got almost no results for my efforts.

I finally got lucky when I tried an internet ebook called the Simple Golf Swing Many of the reviews by the guys who tried it sounded positive. It didn’t cost much (compared to what I had been spending) and it has a guarantee. I was desperate, so I decided to give it a try. I am so glad that I did.

The ebook is short and very easy to read and understand. It explains the golf swing better and more simply than anything else I ever tried. My game started to improve almost immediately, and I actually broke 90 within a couple of weeks! Golf became so much more fun for me- I took about 10 strokes off per round in a really short time. The only thing I didn’t like was my putting was still lousy. Eventually, I worked that out too.

Now days I get to play two or three times a week, and golf is so much more fun. A lot of times my friend Jimbo and I join another twosome, and they always ask me- How do you hit that 2 yard draw? They can hardly believe me when I tell them how bad I was just a few months ago.

Anyway, I hope you found this information useful. The Simple Golf Swing worked great for me. If you have problems with your swing, or your consistency, I would highly recommend you give this a try.

Good Luck!

Looking around today I came across some interesting material on the swing plane that I thought you might benefit from.

How to Improve your Golf Swing Plane-3 Tips

A lot of golfers have bad or inconsistant swing planes. Maybe you are looking for solutions like I was. I started looking for ways to improve my swing plane, swing speed, and overall golf swing consistency. This was when I learned about swinging in a better and more consistent plane. In keeping with the general theme of this site, I thought I would list 3 Tips to help with your swing plane and your swing speed.

1. Here is a good drill to help you feel what a proper swing plane feels like. Address a ball at the driving range, without a club. Next, point to the ball with your left hand, and pull back your right arm as if you’re going to shoot an arrow thru the ball. The position you’re in now, this is the correct position. The plane of your shoulders point at the ball. Hold this pose, then move your arms so you point a foot or two above the ball. See how this swing plane feels wrong? (Way too flat.) Now move your arms so you’re pointing at your left toe. Do you feel how this swing plane is too upright? Back to pointing at the ball. Turn like you’re starting your backswing. It’s hard to turn completely, but you can still feel the correct way to come back on the correct swing plane. Last, put both hands together pointing at the ball. Pull your right hand back to the arrow shooting position. Go back and forth several times. This is how a proper backswing (on plane) should feel.

2. To feel a proper swing plane, address a ball on the driving range and lift your club to knee or waist level, like you’re going to hit a baseball. Take a couple of baseball swings and feel how around the swing feels. It’s just a turn, back and around. Imagine a giant plane of glass thru your shoulders, arms, grip and club. Swing along this swing plane. Go in a circle, not in a straight line. Drop the club. Now start with your hands together in approximate address position. Leave your left hand pointing at the ball, and bring your right hand back to the top. Now downswing with your right hand and clap. It’s a circular motion, like opening and closing a door. Do this several times, feel it. Now, swing normally and still feel the circular motion. Coil and recoil, the swing is circular, not a straight line back and forward.

3. Who wants to hit it further? Your main source of power-and therefore increased swing speed, is the coiling and uncoiling of your core (your entire body). The best golfers rotate their body to the right on the backswing, and begin their downswing with their hips. Many golfers think their clubhead speed should max out as you hit the ball. This has been disproven. Your maximum clubhead speed should occur after you hit the ball. That’s the way Tiger Woods and all the other best pros do it. This insures that your swing speed is accelerating as you hit the ball. You know deceleration is bad. To do this, start your downswing with your hips. Many golfers start the downswing with their hands. Your transition starts before you reach the top, Your hands are still moving back, and your hips are already loading downward. You can’t begin your downswing with your hands, this causes casting, coming over the top, and of course, slicing. The lower body starts, the hands will follow.

Who am I?

Roger the Golfer

Hey, Roger here, thanks for checking out my site. I’m an avid golfer who always had trouble with my golf swing consistency.

I had a lot of trouble driving the ball, I would usually come over the top. This mainly resulted in a lot of pull hooks, pop ups, and weak slices.

I tried every golf gimmick, golf aid, golf lesson book, golf videos, even expensive golf lessons from several different professionals. Nothing really helped.

Luckily I finally found the Simple Golf Swing, which helped me so much with my swing problems. Here I am playing on the beach. I get to play two or three times a week now and I’m loving the game more than ever before.

Learning How To Swing for Distance and Accuracy

May 26th, 2010

The game of Golf is mostly a sequence of measured actions and moves especially when it comes to a swing!  Golfers who are consistently looking to enhance their swing happen to be those getting the most accurate, long distance shots.  To be honest, swinging a golf club correctly consists of quite a lot of things nevertheless here are 3 tips that’ll seriously help you get some great (regular) shots.  Don’t forget, a golf swing is not something that’s perfected once, it’s going to take a lifetime of practice.

Ok, tip # 1.  Ensure that your stance feels good.  For instance, if you feel like you might be bending over too much then ya probably are.  Part of your swing is a result of your feelings before you decide to actually take that swing.  So loosen up, get comfortable with that stance first. Maintain your shoulders parallel towards the ground and your hips in line together with your shoulders (forming a square).  Focus on a comfortable stance, then begin refining your stance into a strong, accurate swing.

Next, consider where your stance is around the ball.  Depending on the scenario as well as the clubs your stance may need to be in front of the ball when using woods, in the middle of the ball when using middle irons or you may need to be slightly in front of the ball when using the lower/chipping irons.  A lot of of brand new golfers basically presume that putting the ball right in the middle of your stance is how you should line yourself up for the shot at all times.  Not so.
A great swing is one that does not dip or that doesn’t abruptly rise off the ground.  Your golf swing must be a smooth (virtually round) sweeping motion.  Look at any professional golfer on TV or the internet and you’ll find that sort of golf swing each and every time.  Keep your shoulders straight and your eyes on your golf ball, at this point focus on making that sweep.  You are going to know if you are dropping the club or raising it suddenly because you’ll be creating divots or topping the ball.

To sum it all up, you will want to get comfortable with a stance which works for you, after that position your stance to the ball based on what golf clubs you’re using and finally swing the club in a smooth sweeping motion (no drops or sudden lifts).  Of course all this sounds really easy on paper, however the only way to really perfect your golf swing is to get out there!
